Which Tests Actually Earn? Analytics for Diagnostic Centers in Bangladesh
Every center knows its daily collection. Almost none know which tests the money came from, what each referrer is worth once commission is paid, or where discount is quietly leaking. Those are the questions this add-on exists to answer.
Ask a center owner in Bangladesh how the month is going and you will get a number: today's collection, or this week's. Ask which tests that number came from, and the answer is usually a feeling — CBC and ultrasound, probably. Ask what Dr. Rahman's referrals were worth once his commission was paid out, and the answer is a shrug. The software has recorded every invoice for years. It just never added them up in the way an owner thinks.
Three questions a daily dashboard cannot answer
- Where is the money actually coming from — which tests, which categories, which payers?
- What is each referrer worth after the commission accrued against their patients?
- What is quietly leaking — discounts, cancellations, unpaid dues — and through whom?
The daily dashboard is the right tool for 'how are we doing today'. These are 'this quarter, and why' questions, and they need a different surface. That is what the AI Insights & Analytics add-on is: three pages — Overview, Revenue and Referrals — that read the same invoices, payments and commissions the center already records, over any date range you pick, with every table exportable to Excel.

Which tests earn — done honestly
'Revenue by test' sounds trivial until you try it. A test sold inside a panel has no price of its own on the invoice; the panel does. And an invoice-level discount is taken off the total, not off any line. Add up the lines naively and panel tests show zero while a discounted invoice's tests add up to more than the patient paid. SihatSuite splits a panel's money across its member tests in proportion to their list prices, then scales every line so the tests add up to exactly what was billed. The page reconciles that figure against the period's total — tests, consultation fees, and anything left over — so a gap reads as a finding rather than a bug.
What you get is contribution, not profit: the platform records what a test sold for, not what the reagent cost. But contribution by test and by category is enough to see that the two ultrasound slots are carrying the lab, or that a category you thought was a loss-leader is a third of the month.
Referrers, scored net of commission
A referring doctor who sends ৳40,000 of patients at 15% commission and one who sends ৳30,000 at nothing are not ranked the way a gross list ranks them. The Referrals page scores every doctor and agent on gross referred revenue, the commission that accrued against those invoices — accrued, not paid, so a late payout does not flatter anyone — and the net. Walk-in patients appear as their own row, so you can see what a referral is worth compared with the patient who simply turned up.
Where it leaks
- Discount concentration: total discount by the user who raised the invoice, with each person's share — the fastest way to find the desk where 10% has become the default.
- Cancellation rate: how many invoices were cancelled and what share of everything raised that is. Cancelled money is excluded from every other figure on the page.
- Collections by method and revenue by payer: cash against mobile banking, patients against corporate accounts.
- Billed versus collected, day by day, with every headline figure shown against the previous period of the same length.
What 'AI' means here, and when
Everything above is arithmetic over your own records — no model, no per-question cost, and nothing about your patients leaves the platform. The AI part is what comes next: a plain-language brief in Bangla or English that narrates these figures and answers questions about them. It is built on top of the analytics rather than instead of them, because a model asked to invent the numbers will happily do so. Centers on the add-on get the briefs when they ship, at no extra charge.
What it costs and who can see it
AI Insights & Analytics is a ৳1,000/month add-on to any SihatSuite subscription that includes Diagnostic Management. It is gated by its own permission, so an owner can grant it to a manager without handing over the accounts, and every Excel download is logged. If your center has been running on SihatSuite for a while, the first month it answers is one you have already lived through — which is the quickest way to learn whether your feeling about the ultrasound slots was right.
